WHALE Arts are currently showing a series of artworks which were created by the Edinburgh Sketcher, Mark Kirkham, as part of the ‘Paint it Back’ event during the Wester Hailes Community Connections Festival.
On the 23rd June 2015 the Edinburgh Sketcher joined local people for ‘Paint it Back’ a guided social history walk through Wester Hailes. The walk was led by a local historian and highlighted past, present and future sites of significance within the community.
Taking inspiration from that day the Edinburgh Sketcher’s work in this exhibition blends current buildings and fragments of Wester Hailes’ social history to illustrate both the ‘Paint it Back’ walk and the community spirit in Wester Hailes.
The exhibition is supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, The Connected Communities project, Prospect Community Housing, WHALE Arts, Our Place in Time and The Health Agency.
You can visit the exhibition this week and from 4 January 2016.
