Voting opens for Grant a Grand

South West Neighbourhood Office Grant a Grand

Young people from the South West are being invited to head along to their local library to take part in the Grant a Grand vote.

People aged between 10 and 19 are able to vote for one of 16 possible projects submitted to Grant a Grand between Autumn 2015 and early 2016. There are 10 prizes each of £1000 to be granted to the 10 projects with the most votes. You can see the list of possible projects on the South West Neighbourhood Partnership website and voting is available at the following libraries Fountainbridge, Balgreen, Sighthill (Gate55) or Wester Hailes.

The voting will run from today Monday 1 February 2016 to Wednesday 24 February 2016. The results will be announced at a community event on Friday 26 February 2016 at Carrickvale Community Centre. The event will include stalls from local community groups, sports tasters and refreshments. It’s free to come along and everyone in South West Edinburgh is welcome.

Councillor Maureen Child, Convener of the Communities and Neighbourhoods Committee at the City of Edinburgh Council, said:

Participatory budget schemes have proven to be extremely popular, and it’s great to see so many applicants covering so many different projects.

I would now urge everyone who is eligible to take to part in the vote to have your say in who should be granted a grand. Neighbourhood Partnership events like this are valued by people who welcome the opportunity to make decisions about the area in which they live.
