Woman assaulted and robbed in Murrayburn Park

Police Scotland are appealing for witnesses following an assault and robbery in Murrayburn Park.

The incident took place at around 11.15am on Wednesday.

A 36-year-old woman was walking on the footpath that runs parallel to Murrayburn Road and leads to Hailesland Road.

At the junction with Murrayburn Road, the suspect approached her and stole a three-figure sum of money from her before assaulting her.

He was last seen heading into Murrayburn Park.

The suspect is described as a white man, in his late 30s to early 40s, 6ft 2inches tall, with a skinny build.

He had black ear-length hair, grey stubble, a large nose, and an unkempt appearance.

He was wearing a knee-length black coat with a hood that had an orange logo on the right arm, and light blue jeans.

He had letters tattooed on the fingers of his right hand, and possibly an Eastern European accent.

Detective Sergeant Robbie Wallace of Corstorphine CID said:

We’d urge anyone who recognises the description of the suspect, or who saw a man matching this description in the area around the time of the robbery, to get in touch as soon as possible.
