The Wester Hailes Community Trust presented the first of their Small Sparks grants to local resident Chuks Ododo yesterday.

The grant, in the form of a £200 voucher will allow Chuks to work with volunteers from the Wester Hailes Open Heavens Church to buy materials to help them with their plans to paint nearby railings and beautify the Greenway close to the Church.

Wester Hailes Community Trust (WHCT) is a new collaborative community organisation that has been established to support genuine community-led development in Wester Hailes. The group is led by and accountable to its local membership.

The Trust is also looking for more local people to become members. This could allow you to have your say help shape what sort of projects the Trust will fund. You can download a membership application form here.

If you have a large idea and don’t think a small sparks grant will be enough the WHCT will also be offering larger grants of up to £2500 from Autumn, with more information coming soon.
