Awards for all funding for Clovenstone

Clovenstone Amateur Boxing Club and Clovenstone Community Centre’s Youth Health Group are delighted to announce they have been awarded £8,500 for Awards for All Big Lottery Funding.

This funding will be used for a range of good causes, primarily including the purchase of new flooring for the gym to ensure that this space is fit for purpose, equipping the gym with bespoke equipment to be used for the existing community delivery (off-site) and to subsidise the costs involved with the delivery of the youth group residential.

Clovenstone Boxing Club works to increase activity within the local community and within local schools via the Active Schools network. Currently the club delivers boxing activity at Forrester High School, St. Augustine’s High School and the Wester Hailes Education Centre in Edinburgh.

The club partnered up with Clovenstone Community Centre’s Youth Health Group. This health group run a 20 week programme where youths from the community are tasked with studying, researching and producing information cards/leaflets on their chosen health related topic (e.g. the dangers of smoking).

This award is testament to the passion, hard work and effort inputted from Rab and his team at Clovenstone Boxing Club, and to Sas and the Management Committee at Clovenstone Community Centre.

We will keep you up to date with the outcomes of this project, as well as with any other ongoing projects across the country.
