Dads Rock to get creative after WHCT grant

Dads Rock are to create an exciting new bird sculpture in Hailes Quarry Park after receiving the latest award from the Wester Hailes Community Trust.

The award of £2,400 will see Dads Rock’s local families working with a metal worker to design and create a new bird table showing what Wester Hailes means to them. The completed table will then go on display in Hailes Quarry Park for the local community and birds to enjoy!

The idea for the bird table came after the group worked with Rik Morley of Wester Hailes Wildlife to place bird boxes in the park. Dads Rock saw the desire their families had to improve the area and thought that a more permanent bird table was a good idea.

Speaking of the award David Marshall from Dads Rock said:

We are really excited to receive the grant from the Wester Hailes Community Trust.  This money will enable us to work with our local families to design and make a new bird table for Hailes Quarry Park. The idea is that this will then be a feature point for anyone in Wester Hailes to use as and when they please.  We will keep everyone updated with the progress with plenty of photos and posts!

Caroline Richards of the Wester Hailes Community Trust said:

We are thrilled to support Dads Rock in their latest venture in the community.  No doubt this will be a great investment in our local green space and something that everyone in the community can use. We look forward to the updates.

The Wester Hailes Community Trust is currently open to applications you can find out more about the Trust as well as download an application form here.
