Support Local projects in the Aviva Community Fund

The Aviva Community Fund has opened with two projects from Wester Hailes asking for your support by voting for them and giving them a chance to get funding.

The projects are:

Holy Trinity Church’s Christians Against Poverty Community Project

Our project aims to support and empower those in our community affected by poverty and poverty related issues.

We have run a Debt Centre for the past 7 years in partnership with Christians Against Poverty (CAP) which has supported 247 clients. The Debt Centre provides an in-depth, holistic, completely free service, open to all, regardless of race, age, gender or religious belief. Through our partnership with CAP we have been providing people with tools, expertise and personal support to become debt free and stay debt free. Over the last 6 months, our CAP Debt Centre has been one of the top performing in the UK. We are currently supporting 18 clients, with capacity for 2 new clients per month. We also plan to expand our service to offer employment support and help to overcome life controlling addictions.

Wester Hailes Youth Agency Cooking Club

We would like to deliver cooking sessions as part of our Drop in Provision for young people aged 8-18, living in Wester Hailes and the surrounding communities of South West Edinburgh. The club will be divided into different age groups and delivered to the following number of young people: 20 Juniors (8 years – P6), 10 Intermediates (P7 – S2), 10 Seniors (S3 – 18 years).

The Aviva Community Fund is a vote open to everyone. Projects that get enough votes from friends, family and supporters could be entered into the Finals, where a judging panel will award the funds.

The Aviva Community Fund will finance over 500 projects across four different fund levels and four categories, giving our awards to communities throughout the UK.

If your project gets enough votes and wows our judges, it will be in with a chance of receiving those much-needed funds.
