Hate Crime Awareness Week in South West Edinburgh

Police Scotland are teaming with SCOREscotland, the City of Edinburgh Council and the Edinburgh and Lothians Regional Equality Council to hold a hate crime awareness week in South West Edinburgh next week, Monday 26 November to Friday 30 November 2018.

The week aims to raise awareness of what hate crime is and the impact it can have, to encourage more people to report hate crime and to highlight the services which offer support to people who may have been the victim of it. The week will be split, with each day focusing on a different area of hate crime.

  • Monday 26th November- Themed around Disability associated hate crimes
  • Tuesday 27th November- Themed around Race/Ethnicity associated hate crime
  • Wednesday 28th November- Themed around Sexual Orientation and also Gender Identity associated hate crimes
  • Thursday 29th November- Themed around Religion and Belief associated hate crimes

As part of the week the Police and partner agencies, including SCOREscotland, will be holding an awareness raising sessions at Wester Hailes Education Centre next Friday 30 November 2018, 11.30am – 3.00pm.
