Interested in Working in the Care Sector

Are you interested in working in the Care Sector? Cyrenians Care Academy provides support to anyone over 18, unemployed or working under 16 hours a week and lives in Edinburgh to gain the skills, confidence and knowledge you need to work in the care sector.

The training is for anyone who is looking to work in residential, home care or support work. It was designed in partnership with a number of care employers to ensure that the main areas of care that employers are looking for were covered. These include:

  • Information on the types of opportunities available in Edinburgh
  • Person-centred care
  • Dementia awareness
  • Adult safeguarding
  • Administering medication
  • Infection control and the use of PPE
  • Personal care
  • Codes of Practice that all carers in Scotland have to work towards

Eligibility: Anyone over 18 and unemployed, or working under 16 hours a week, and lives in Edinburgh.

We will work with you one-to-one and as well providing you with the knowledge you’ll need to succeed in care, we will help you with application forms, CVs, interview skills and provide advice on which companies would be the best fit for you.

The training is well established and respected throughout the city’s care sector, employers recognise and trust the learning graduates take from the course and we have an excellent record of previous graduates moving into employment directly from the course.
