Pizza fans in Broomhouse and across South West Edinburgh can now get their teeth into pizza that not only tastes amazing but also gives back to the community. Outta Space Pizza is the latest innovation from Space @ The Broomhouse Hub and, as a social enterprise, means every slice not only tastes good but does good!
The official launch for Outta Space Pizza took the form of a community meal at The Broomhouse Hub with members of the local community able to try the star quality pizzas, including gluten free and even vegan options.
Fin Clarkson, Mission Controller, Outta Space Pizza said:
Whether you think pineapple is a tropical slice of culinary heaven or Satan’s own topping we have something to offer all tastes. It was a wonderful atmosphere for the launch event and people seemed to be really happy with what was on offer.
Importantly this is a social enterprise project so and any profits will be re-invested within The Hub which has been providing services to the community for over 30 years. A demonstration of the community commitment was the competition to create the logo. The logo was designed by Sophie Lumsden, (14) who is a member of the Young Carers Group.
Attendees on the day included Ross Wilson and Constanza Moreno Sanchez Ornelas from Ooni Pizza Ovens who were invited to say thank you for a fantastic £23,000 donation to support the work of Space @ The Broomhouse Hub.
Fin Clarkson added:
We believe whole-heartedly in ‘Pizza With A Purpose’ and the positive power of a good pepperoni. Ooni are a huge global company and it is great that they are looking to support our local community with this donation that will help us to continue putting on free food events, like this one, to help families come together, enjoy great times and of course, pizza that is out of this world!
All the pizzas, including the dough and the sauces are made by hand at The Broomhouse Hub. This new business currently supports five jobs but it is hoped that once orders take off, it will provide a strong alternative funding stream for one of South West Edinburgh’s longest lived charities.
To get your Outta Space Pizza, including the wonderfully titled ‘Shroom Dog’ simply download the Hungrrrr or Deliveroo Apps and search ‘Outta Space Pizza’. Delivery available from 5pm Thursday and Friday initially but more days and times will be added as demand takes off.
