Local Place Plans: Community Realities and Reflections

Wester Hailes Community Trust alongside Kinning Park Complex will be holding two special events giving a community perspective on the creation of Local Place Plans.

The first event, Local Place Plans: Community Realities and Reflections will be held by the Community Trust at WHALE Arts on Friday 19 May 2023, 10.00am – 1.00pm. It will be a practical workshop targeted to community groups preparing a Local Place Plan. They will cover:

  • Easy wins and things to consider at the start
  • Methodologies
  • Process
  • Outcomes and next steps
  • Links to community empowerment
  • What does success mean on the community’s own terms?

Attendees are welcome to stay on for the WHALE Arts community meal and a walking tour of Wester Hailes.

There will then be an event with Kinning Park Complex in Glasgow on Monday 22 May 2023, 1.00pm – 4.00pm titled Local Place Plans: Communities and Policy Making, to discuss community experiences of Local Place Plans with policy makers. They will cover:

  • Share community experiences in creating their Local Place Plans
  • Discuss learning and success factors
  • Explore links to development plans, community plans and to community empowerment
  • Identify future collaboration opportunities

Facilitation will be provided by SURF and Community Land Scotland.
