SCOREscotland recruiting Youth Project Coordinator

SCOREscotland are currently looking to recruit a Youth Project Coordinator.

The post is part-time (working 28 hours per week) and is contracted to 31 March 2026, with a salary of
£32,909 pro-rata.

Job Purpose

The purpose of the job is to target and develop purposeful links with Edinburgh based black and minority ethnic (BME) young people (YP) who are aged 11 to 24 years old aiming at diverting them from antisocial and criminal behaviour.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Involve YP with the criminal justice system by working with Police Scotland to establish relationships of trust, through discussion, befriending and sport with officers at a local level and liaison with Police Scotland more generally.
  • Work with partners to provide awareness of the justice system and raise awareness of the consequences of crime.
  • Support YP to improve relationships with schools and address any additional support needs.
  • Engage participants in activities which improve their learning leading to positive destinations by organising weekly sessions on core skills, leadership, financial literacy, team building and career options and creating training and volunteering opportunities with partners. This is in addition to managing SCOREscotland’s Duke of Edinburgh Awards programme.
  • Improve participants’ health and wellbeing by organising a range of events and activities (including sports, outdoor education, and conservation) helping them to develop skills in event organisation and offer mental health support for YP signposting to counselling and therapeutic services where necessary.
  • Offer opportunities for YP to contribute to local communities through volunteering with SCOREscotland and other local partners. Helping participants engage with local plans, influence decision-making process and shape the local area.
  • Help participants build their personal skills, resilience, and benefit from strengthened support networks. Reduce risk taking behaviour by provide mentoring and befriending opportunities (including with positive BME role models).
  • Ensure YP have varied opportunities to participate in project planning, delivery and evaluation to improve their skills, confidence and self-esteem.
  • Lead on safeguarding, ensure safety and wellbeing of the YP participating in the programme.
  • Provide direct supervision and support to sessional youth workers and volunteers; identify developmental needs and suitable training to ensure the highest professional standard, quality and performance is maintained.
  • Fundraise and attract additional resources for the delivery and the further development of varied, high quality and fun activities for YP at SCOREscotland.
  • Monitor and evaluate the project; ensuring that all statistical returns are submitted within the set deadlines. This includes ongoing monitoring of budget against expenditure.
  • Undertake risk assessments to ensure that all activities are operated in accordance with up-to-date policies and procedures, Equal Opportunities legislation and Best Practise.
