WHALE Arts is pleased to announce they will be hosting the Local Foreigners Edinburgh Exhibition from 4th to 28th March 2024, during WHALE opening hours 9.00am – 5.00pm.
The Local Foreigners exhibition at Whale Arts in Edinburgh is a unique project that aims to dignify the image of immigration in the UK. Running from the 4th to the 28th of March, the exhibit features 12 striking portraits and personal stories of individuals who have moved to Edinburgh from various countries and now call the city their home. Each participant chose a location in the city that holds unique significance for them. This project, authored by Maryna Sulym, an immigrant from Ukraine, aims to highlight the diversity and complexity of immigration, presenting immigrants as locals with their own everyday problems, families, hobbies, work, and studies.
The exhibition will also host a free workshop on Ukrainian traditional toy painting, providing an interactive cultural experience for visitors.
The workshop is 2.00pm-5.00pm on Monday 4th March 2024, it is free to attend.
