The City of Edinburgh Council has announced they are looking to fill an Early Years Practitioner Vacancy based at Canal View Primary School.
The post is 36 hours per week with a salary of £19,818 – £23,688 (Sessional 39 weeks).

An exciting opportunity has arising to develop a child-centred approach to Early Level in our Primary 1 setting. The successful candidate will be part of a team delivering the curriculum to Primary 1s through play-based experiences. As a valued member of the team you will be responsible for joint planning with the teachers to ensure coverage and rigour through pedagogically based play. Experience of working in a team, delivering high quality learning experiences for all learners and a sound knowledge of the Early Level of Curriculum for Excellence is essential. Experience of working with e-Journals and Floorbooks is desirable.
Our priorities for 2016/2017 are:
– to increase attainment as we are part of the Scottish Attainment Challenge Programme.
– focusing on increasing parental involvement
– developing creative approaches from nursery through to P7 especially in learning and teaching in literacy and numeracy.
– continuing a research project into raising attainment through the development of a Growth Mindset culture
This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by the City of Edinburgh Council.
