The City of Edinburgh Council is expanding its programme of free swimming for primary school children in time for Christmas.
Across both the festive and February school breaks, free swimming sessions will be available for the first time to primary school children, at all times, at all Edinburgh Leisure pools.
The pools involved in the programme will be:
· Ainslie Park Leisure Centre
· Dalry Swim Centre
· Gracemount Leisure Centre
· Leith Victoria Swim Centre
· Drumbrae Leisure Centre
· Glenogle Swim Centre
· Portobello Swim Centre
· Royal Commonwealth Pool
· Warrender Swim Centre
The initiative has been funded by the City of Edinburgh Council’s sport programme, which encourages young people to take up an active lifestyle. This also included ‘Top up’ swimming lessons for P2 and 3 plus swim coaching sessions for black and minority ethnic groups.
Edinburgh Leisure has offered a free swimming programme during school holidays since October 2013. Previous programmes have been restricted to four pools, between the hours of 12-4pm only. This winter, primary school children will be able to swim for free during any listed public swim session at any Edinburgh Leisure swimming pool.
