The Broomhouse Health Strategy Group, which runs the fruit and veg shop, released their ‘Tried & Tasted in Broomhouse’ recipe book today. We paid a visit to see what their recipes looked and tasted like.
There were yummy samples of some of the recipes, including cheese and herb scones, chocolate beetroot cupcakes, pineapple upside-down cake and tomato and bean soup. The book is full of meat-free, low-cost, family-friendly recipes meant to serve four people, and is available to take home for a suggested donation of £1.
The event was a huge success with the shop packed with people and the the initial 500 copies of the recipe book flew out the door.
The Broomhouse Health Strategy Group provide a range of free services including a home delivery service, cookery classes, exercise classes and a walking group. The group work in partnership with several local groups and organisations like the Broomhouse Centre which they hope to expand.
