Power To The People

pilton visit

Members of the North Edinburgh history group Power To The People visited Wester Hailes today to find out more about local social history/ digital projects here. They have been working on the history of their area from the Roman period right up to the present day and would like to put together a heritage trail for their area that includes access to information online. The group, who come from the wider Pilton area, started off their visit at Prospect Community Housing to find out more about how both the From There To Here blog and the social history Facebook page were set up, as well as learning about the local partnership Our Place In Time which has co-ordinated several of the local social history projects.

They then headed over in the sunshine to the Totem Pole to find out about QR codes and how these could work for their project. The group finished their morning at the Healthy Living Centre so that they could view the Our Place In Time Exhibition there before having lunch at the Health Agency’s Garden Kitchen Café.

They really enjoyed their visit to Wester Hailes and are keen that a return visit to their project could be organised for residents from here. If you would be interested in knowing more about this, look out for further information later in the year.
