Police Scotland update on Anti-Social Behaviour

Following a recent increase in anti-social behaviour incidents in the South West of the city, Inspector Liz Duthie would like to reassure the community this will not be tolerated.

PI Duthie says:

Our Safer Communities Violence Prevention Officers have been on dedicated patrols in the Saughton Mains area and surrounding streets recently and will remain there for the coming days. The mobile city of Edinburgh council CCTV van will also be in the area.

Together with The City of Edinburgh Council South West Family and Household Team, officers have met with parents and guardians of youths behaving in an anti-social manner and we will continue to engage with them.

A number of youths have been charged with crimes and offences including Culpable and Reckless Conduct, a break-in to Balgreen Primary School/Balgreen Nursery, Road Traffic Offences and vandalism.

Youth anti-social behaviour continues to be a focus at Community Improvement Partnership Meetings and forthcoming days of action are being organised by Community Sgt Alex Dickson, together with the City of Edinburgh Council South West Family and Household Team.

We will continue to work with local community groups on these issues and urge you to report any other incidents to us on 101, or 999 in an emergency
