New Wetlands Habitat launched

Edinburgh and Lothians Greenspace Trust (ELGT) invited pupils from Longstone Primary School today to help them officially launch the new Wetlands habitat in Hailes Quarry Park.

The launch saw Councillor Dennis Dixon cut the ribbon on the new boardwalk.  After the group held a workshop with Longstone pupils, teaching them a bit about the area and helping them plant trees along the outskirts of the habitat.

ELGT have been able to develop the wetland area at Hailes Quarry Park thanks to funding from Postcode Local Trust and the City of Edinburgh Council. The new area features a boardwalk and pond dipping platform. The hope is that groups of people will now be able to visit the park to experience and learn about nature and that the area will be used by local wildlife.
