City Of Play with support from WHALE Arts, With Kids, Edible Estates and Tasting Change, will be running Tinkertown a summer school for children of Canal View Primary School and their families, from Monday 9 July to Friday 13 July 2018, 10.00am – 2.00pm, daily.

Tinkertown is an inspiring place, a scrap timber village built by children for children (and their families). For one whole week this summer holidays the City of Play team will teach children and adults how to safely use real tools in the design and build of their own adventure space within the playground area of Canal View Primary School. The summer school will be supported by local organisations and their staff and there will be lunch provided daily.

The open nature of Tinkertown offers children and their families the opportunity to explore and experience a different kind of play; it enables children to investigate their imagination and ideas, begin to understand basic engineering principles, learn about risk (within a managed situation), build physical and social skills and produce a piece of work which is inhabitable, autonomous and of their own making.
