Smokefree NHS Lothian hold a support group for people trying to stop smoking at Wester Hailes Library on Tuesdays at 1.30pm – 2.30pm.
The group provides a completely free service which includes medications, e.g. nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) or varenicline (Champix). They can usually request a prescription direct from your surgery without you having to make an appointment to see your GP.
The service offers flexible support, so if someone is not keen to attend a group session, it may be possible for them to be seen individually. The group does not pressure people into stopping smoking, but instead offers friendly advice and support to help those who want to quit.
