Digital Sentinel cruises along the canal!

100_0481The Digital Sentinel paid a visit to Re-Unuion Canal Boats this morning for a pleasant little trip along the canal!

We set off from the quay at Fountainbridge aboard the Lochrin Belle and travelled along the canal to Slateford aqueduct before turning and heading back. Here is a collection of some of our photos from a part of the canal you may not be as familiar with.

Re-Union is a social enterprise, a charity which aims for sustainability, it aims to encourage people to be the best they can be by getting them to work on boats along the canal. They were created in 2004 after they saw how work was being done on the Millenium Link.

They rent out their boats and hold a variety of events raining from whisky tasting to ghost boat trips. They also work with a variety of other organisations such as the Sorted Project and have worked with Scorescotland. You can find more information about Re-Union on their facebook page. Their next event is a History Cruise on Monday 6 April 2015, 2.00pm and tickets cost £10.

Make sure if you are ever along the canal and see their big purple boats give them a wave!
