A trip down memory lane!

The Digital Sentinel will be holding a special themed drop in session this Thursday 1 June 2017 10.30am – 12.30pm at the WHALE Arts Centre where we invite you to bring any old photos and we will digitise them for you as well as share some old stories.

To prepare for the session we paid a visit to the Sentinel archive at Prospect to have a look through all the old copies of the Sentinel!

The earliest copy we could find (because some of the oldest part of the archive was damaged in a fire!) was issue 21 which was published in August 1978 with a front page that proudly told of the opening of the new high school, the WHEC!

The issue was full of great content:

As part of their coverage of the WHEC’s opening had an interview with then Principal Ralph Wilson.

An update of the Youth Forum and the numerous community centres exciting summer programmes.

There was even a story about a new Job Centre opening at 4 Wester Hailes Shopping Precinct.

So come along and share some stories with us, this Thursday 1st June at the WHALE Arts Centre, 10.30am – 12.30pm. We will even have a few copies of the Sentinel newspaper for people to have a look through!
