Simita Kumar elected as MSP for Edinburgh Pentlands

Simita Kumar of the Scottish National Party will represent the new Edinburgh South Western constituency at Holyrood after receiving a majority of 3,289 votes in the 2026 Scottish election.

Simita Kumar received 11,727 votes, 36.2% of the vote defeating Scottish labour Party’s Catriona Munro who obtained 8,438, 26.0% of the vote, Scottish Conservative’s Sue Webber who received 4,636 votes 14.3% of the vote, Reforms’ Cameron Rose who received 3,936 votes, 12.1% of the vote, and the Liberal Democrats’ 3,672 votes 11.3% of the vote.

Voter turnout was 53.3% of 60,829 registered voters. As of writing the vote count is still ongoing as the regional MSPs are still to be determined.
