
SCOREscotland are looking for a skilled and an experienced Sessional Worker who is passionate about engaging with people and about supporting them to make progress on their outcomes.
Responsible To: SCOREscotland Manager
Place of Work: SCOREscotland, WHALE Arts Centre, 30 Westburn Grove, Edinburgh and other venues mostly throughout South West Edinburgh.
Hours of Work: Sessional Workers need to be available to work on Mondays, and other possible weekdays and/or Saturdays. Flexibility required. Each session lasts between 3 to 4hrs.
Rate of Pay: £15.60 per hour
Purpose of Role
As part of the team of 2, to deliver cooking and outdoor allotment work activities for men in South West Edinburgh, particularly but not exclusively those from a Black or Minority Ethnic background.
The activities aim to help participants to: make new friends; increase their confidence and self-esteem; improve their health and wellbeing; learn new skills and find new interests and hobbies; develop their ambitions and aspirations; feel safer in the local community; learn more about the world around them; become more active and contribute more as citizens; improve their English if it is not their first language and boost their sense of belonging.
Sessional Workers will be required to:
- Lead group activities, together with one other volunteer or line manager when required.
- Support men during activities if needed.
- Support men to make progress on our outcomes and help us to reach our targets.
- Encourage men to participate fully in the activities and to come forward with any issues, worries or problems that they have.
- Be a positive role model for the group.
- Assist with the planning of activities.
- Assist with the setting up of and preparation for activities.
- Contribute to staff evaluation of work sessions.
- Contribute to the evaluation of men’s progress in terms of our outcomes.
- Promote the benefits of volunteering / support men into volunteer opportunities or refer for employability support.
- At all times, adhere to SCOREscotland’s Health and Safety and Equal Opportunities policies and Procedures.
- Take part in training and development opportunities.
