A team of 10 artists, staff, friends and family from Starcatchers are running the Scottish Half Marathon and Duo events in September to raise money for Expecting Something.
The money raised will be put towards Expecting Something which will be launching soon at WHALE Arts. Expecting Something will run on Tuesdays from 13 October to 15 December 2015 and is for parents aged under 25 who have babies under one year. The group invites mums and mums-to-be to come along meet each other and take part in artist-led activities such as music, art and relaxation.
The group has raised 91% of their goal of £2,000 at the time of writing, you can support them and see how close they are to their goal by visiting their JustGiving page.
On 19th September #TeamStarcatchers will take on it’s first sporting challenge. The Scottish Half. With just over 7 weeks to go and 150.4 km to cover on the day we have our work cut out.
Expecting Something provides a safe space for new parents to spend time with their babies and peers whilst engaging in artist-lead creative activities.
From the pilot programme of the same name we found that participants experienced increased confidence, better relationships with their babies and improved emotional health and wellbeing.
Any donation big or small will help us make a positive difference to the lives of these young parents and their babies.
There will be a taster session for anyone interested in Expecting Something on Tuesday 29 September 2015, 10.30am – 12.30pm at the WHALE Arts Centre.
