Come along to the Union Canal this Friday to enjoy several arts , food and information sessions as part of the Canal Connections Trail alongside the Union Canal Flotilla.
The Flotilla, taking place this Friday 20 May 2022, will be celebrating 200 years since the opening of the Union Canal. They will be mustering at Fountainpark Quay from 11.30am and departing at 12.30pm. The flotilla will then be sailing along the canal getting to Bridge 8 in the afternoon. Throughout the day there will be several events and activities taking place along the canal in Wester Hailes, organised by WHALE Arts and Edinburgh Art Festival alongside a steering group of local residents these will be:
- Hailes Quarry Park – Family friendly art activities including canal trail bingo and badge making.
- Opposite the Wester Hailes Totem Pole – Information station, find out all about WH heritage and current community led projects and services.
- Bridge 8 Hub – Raft building with Artist Ruby Pester and Sarah Kenchington.
There will also be a canal trail bingo with prizes between the stations, and a Finding buoyancy exhibition and community meal at WHALE Arts from 12.45pm.
