Plans have been submitted for the creation of several street food style shipping containers in the Westisde Centre (formerly Westside Plaza) Car park.
The plans, submitted by U&S Investments Limited propose removing some of the parking spaces in the middle car park located between Lidl and Wester Hailes Train Station, to erect 14 shipping containers as well as associated ground and landscaping work. This would include the creation of a line of bollards separating the containers from the car park. Each of the containers would offer hot food takeaways and be 15m2 floor area per unit.
The plans were originally submitted and withdrawn on April 24 2025, as a proposed sign in the original did not require full planning permission but instead advertising consent. The new plans are currently awaiting assesment.
